The next job is a Chevy Colorado with a severe slapping noise from the front cover. Removal found the timing chain tensioner stuck in position causing heavy chain slack (and slap). Unfortunately to pull the front cover you have to take the oil pan off and to do that you have to remove steering rack. A new tensioner guides and chain solved the problem
